All year, I’m experimenting with different mediums. My friends Darin and Chad helped me form a drum Circle! We used Djembe, a West African drum. Fruit-shaped and egg-shaped shakers, a couple Cajon (music boxes), tamberime, and more were all played. Sometimes, Chad led, but often the music was improvised.
Since we hosted it at a park, folks danced and joined in. 1 baby loved the banana shaker. We even had burritos to fuel our energy.
Art is so fun and often unexpected. As someone who’s leaning into music-making, I’m learning how satisfying it is to make with others. What an incredible burst of creativity and inspiration to end the month!
